Grew up in Berlin. Played childrens parts at the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin.

Instrumental and vocal studies at the Hochschule für Musik Berlin. Flute classes with Sir James Galway in Berlin and Peter Lloyd in London.

Assistant to various opera directors i. e. Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Glyndebourne Opera Festival, Salzburger Festspiele.

1983 first production as director at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken.

1984 – 1991 frequent engagements as free lance director.

1992 – 1998 employment as assistant director to Prof. Götz Friedrich. Own productions both at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and other German Theatres.

1999 free lance opera director with productions in Germany, the United States, Japan, Iceland, Rumania and Austria.

2001 – 2002 guest professor for opera performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

2003-2004 guest professor at the Universität der Künste Berlin.

Since 2008 managing director and jury-member of the Goetz-Friedrich-Trust.

Her 2009 production of Offenbachs „Großherzogin von Gerolstein“ at Eutin Festival was broadcasted on German State Television.

2010 jury-member at the Bundesgesangswettbewerb.

2011 In the annual issue of Opernwelt Lulu was named in the category
'Best Production'.
jury-member at Young Euro Classic.

Since 2013 teaching and directing at the Lotte Lehmann Akademie.
